Over the Rainbow is a memorable Academy Award-winning ballad tune composed by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It was composed for the motion picture The Wizard of Oz, and was sung by Judy Garland in the movie. As time passes it has become become Garland’s trademark song. Oscar Peterson’s arrangement is also a classic in itself, using experimental harmonies with 9ths, 13th and sus chords on virtually every piano chord.
